Emergency help is needed for the animals rapidly losing their habitat as a result of the Australian bush fires. Here’s how you can help.
How long have the fires been burning for?
Although it has only become a significant news story in the past week, wild fires in Australia have actually been burning since September 2019. They have become the most dangerous and catastrophic bush fires Australia has ever seen.
How many animals have been killed so far?
Since the fires began in September, it is estimated that over 480 million animal lives have been lost. This number is expected to dramatically grow over the next few weeks, with some species being put in danger of extinction. It is important that we act now to do what we can to save these animals.
How can you help?
Many charities across Australia, and further across the globe are kindly asking for donations in order to rescue animals in danger of death. They will also be working to restore the habitats of thousands of animals once the fires have settled.
The RSPCA (New South Wales) has launched the Bushfire Appeal to help protect the animals that have lost their homes. This includes pets as well as wildlife.
